Government focus is on election: Minister Pandey

Kapilvastu, Feb 1: Minister for Federal Affairs and Local Development Hitraj Pandey has said the government is focused on holding the local poll for the enforcement of the constitution.
Speaking at a press meet organised by Press Centre Nepal, Kapilvastu Chapter, the Minister said the issue of constitution amendment and the preparations for election were moving ahead simultaneously. Enforcing the constitution was the first priority of the government and the House had already three bills relating to the election as part its preparations for the election.
As he said the report of the Local Body Restructuring Commission had been presented to the Parliament and the election of village units and municipalities would take place on the basis of the same report.
There was no alternative before the country to conducting the election within the deadline to implement the constitution and Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal was making efforts to bring the agitating Madhesi Front and the main opposition CPN (UML) on board, he added.
