Devghat suffers damage worth 120 million

 May 28. Chitwan, The April 25 earthquake and subsequent aftershocks have caused damage worth Rs. 120 million in the Hindu religious destination of Devghat.

Religious huts, temples, schools and houses in the Devghat area have suffered extensive damage in the quake, according to Devghat Area Development Committee Sailendra Kumar Piya. Likewise, the Harihar, Indira, Galeswor and Mahendra Ashram, Mani Mukundeswar Chakrawarti temple, and three schools were also damaged.

Piya also said that 100 houses in the Devghat area have been fully damaged while 358 houses suffered minor damage.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, and the District Administration Office have been communicated about the damage while discussion is underway on ways to rebuild the Ashram and temples, said the Committee member Tanka Nath Poudel.

It may be noted that NC Vice-president Ram Chandra Poudel had inspected the damages on Wednesday and assured of necessary support on behalf of the state in rebuilding the area.
