May 29, Beni (Myagdi),Physical property worth one million rupees was destroyed in the floods brought about by the clogged Kaligandaki River in Gufatole of Parbat Beni adjoining the border of Myagdi headquarters Beni.
Houses along with goods inside them, poultry farms of 13 households in Gufatole downstream of Kaligandi were damaged by the floods. The floods were a result of the clogging of the Kaligandaki river due to landslides from the Kafaldanda in Ramche-9 of Myagdi last Sunday.
Houses of Bishnu Kumari Darji, Jhuke Damai, Dhanbir Nepali, Ramdal Damai, Goma Thapa, Santosh Jaisawal, Manabir Nepali, Singhabir Nepali, Sulmaya Nepali, Dil Bahadur Sarki, Mithu Nepali, Sakkal Bahadur Nepali and Gopi Darji were damaged in the floods, according to Sub-Inspector at Parbat Beni Police Post Ghanashyam Dhakal.
A team including the Mallaj market management committee, the Kaligandaki mothers’ group, political party, police and locals had carried out a joint assessment of the damage caused by the floods.
