National park appeals locals to stop polluting Narayani

Ratnanagar, July 9: The Chitwan National Park authorities have appealed to the locals to not throw waste into the Narayani river that flows through the park.

The appeal by the Park comes in wake of news reports that have said that the Bharatpur Sub-metropolis began dumping solid waste into the river, which is a lifeline for wildlife in the national park.

Anyone polluting rivers or water resources in and around parks can be prosecuted as per the National Park Act 2029, says Chief of the Park Kamal Jung Kunwar. Polluted water in the river could hamper wildlife including crocodile in the river and rhino, tiger, elephant and birds in the park, adds Kuwar.
