Labour Ministry not to backtrack from earlier decision

June 18. Kathmandu,Minister of State for Labor and Employment, Tek Bahadur Gurung has reaffirmed that the Ministry will not backtrack from the recently made decision according to which Nepali migrant worker will not be sent to six Gulf countries and Malaysia without free visa and ticket to their respective labor destinations.

Talking to RSS today, Minister aGurung dismissed the news that Prime Minister Sushil Koirala had directed him to take back the decision that the Ministry would only issue work permits after ensuring that the migrant workers are given free air tickets and visa.

“The PM had called me to inquire about the ‘free-visa-free-ticket’ decision after some foreign employment entrepreneurs had met him to express their dissatisfaction over the decision,” clarified Gurung, adding,”The PM also praised my effort saying I had made a good decision.”

“A free-visa and free-ticket for the migrant workers is the right of the aspiring workers. The Ministry had reached the decision, albeit late, to endorse the rights of the migrant workers,” argued Minister Gurung.
