Feb 17:Kathmandu,President Dr Ram Baran Yadav has said that the Nepalese Army (NA) has been playing an important role in every aspect of peace, stability and development of the country.
In a message he gave on the occasion of the Army Day 2015, the President stated that the trust and confidence of the people towards the army has significantly increased due to the laudable work carried out by the NA as a national army in different sectors.
The President, who is also the Supreme Commander of the NA, said, “The Nepalese Army has been making untiring efforts for the welfare and wellbeing of the entire country and the countrymen as well as for the overall national interest.”
President Yadav has expressed the belief that positive cooperation would be forthcoming from all sectors in the realm of promoting national security by timely addressing the long-term plan formulated by the NA towards strengthening the entire defence system.
The contribution made by the Nepalese Army for the conservation of the natural resources and the national development in the present context is exemplary, the President stated in his message.
In his message given on the same occasion, Prime Minister Sushil Koirala has stated that the significant works carried out by the NA keeping the nation and the people at the centre has contributed much towards enhancing national dignity and prestige.
“The NA’s tradition of accomplishing the responsibility assigned to it in a fair, undisputable and professional manner has further developed it into a reliable and professional institution,” PM Koirala stated.
The Prime Minister and Defence Minister has said the contribution made by the army towards enhancing the country’s prestige and prosperity while fulfilling the national responsibility of protecting the country and the people is praise-worthy.
Similarly, in his message on the occasion, Chief of Army Staff General Gaurav Shumsher JBR, while recalling the contribution made by the NA to the service of the nation and the people working day and night, stressed on the need of modernizing the organisation and its institutional strengthening in tune with the time.
